Thrifting Tip #2: Dress for Success

When you go shopping for clothes, it helps to be prepared by dressing for success. Cheesy but true. Here are some tips for dressing for success when thrifting.

Fit & Style
Dressing in basics can help you determine how things will fit, especially if the store has limited or no change rooms
Wearing a blank canvas can help you visualize what you would wear the item with, while you have it on. Simple things like muted underwear or bringing a tank top to try on under items are things that can help you make decisions about some pieces.

Change Rooms
Wearing layers is helpful and gives options for trying on different things, especially when there is no available change room. I'll try a dress on over a pair of jeans, or a pair of jeans over tights if there is no change room. Being able to try things on quickly is also an asset, so wearing things you can take on and off quickly makes it easier. Avoid lace up shoes and button up shirts, that is valuable time!

Hands Free
Having free hands is a necessity. You will want to look and touch everything while loading up on things to try on. Leave bulky coats and large bags at home.
