Thrifting Tip #5: Make a List

Make a list of things you need or want to find before you go thrifting. Walking in to a thrift store without a plan can end up challenging or stressful for some. The adrenaline combined with racks and racks of stuff calling our names can distract or overwhelm us.

Having a list or plan can help you decide where to browse first. It can help you when you only have a few minutes to shop. Having a list can help you narrow down your purchase choices if you have too many items in your basket and a budget, or limited space. It can help you from buying too many impulse items, although sometimes half the fun is impulse purchases!

Always add to your list. If looking for furniture, measure the space before hand, so you know it will fit and add it too the list. It is easy to over look things or mistake the potential for diy projects. I have items like denim for cut-offs on my list so I don't forget to browse jeans and consider them for shorts.

I usually go list-free but I just started keeping a list to try to curb my spending on second hand items. Would you keep a list? or is that just too much planning ahead?
